Case Study 2
Work-related stress
Miss R is 32 years old.  She had been signed off work for two weeks due to work-related stress.  She was suffering from palpitations, sleep disturbance, shaking and tearfulness.  She felt very emotional and wanted to keep away from people.

Miss R had seen her doctor who had agreed that she should pursue an holistic approach to getting well.  She made an appointment for counselling and contacted me to arrange for a course of reflexology treatments.

The client complained that her feet felt cold even though she knew the skin was warm.  Her ankle joints were tight and stiff, her stress reflexes puffy and I felt that her energy flow was being blocked by her anxiety to control.  She was clearly on edge and talked throughout the treatment.

The following week, Miss R said she felt more relaxed.  She was visibly different with an “open” expression and attitude.  Her energy flow had improved.

By the third treatment, Miss R was back to work and feeling very much happier and relaxed.  She said her feet felt warm and her stress reflexes were functioning more normally.

We achieved a major breakthrough in treatment 4 when Miss R settled in the treatment chair and drifted off into a higher state of relaxation, something she was able to do quickly in treatment 5.

We are tapering off Miss R’s treatments to once a month maintenance since she is now feeling so much better.

“We think we can cope, then we're on an edge and it doesn't take much to be pushed over it.  This was the point I'd reached when I first met Margaret.  I remember my first reflexology session well.  I was hyper, but by the fourth session, I'd learned that I was in safe hands and reached a new level of relaxation.  I'm now able to go about my busy life.”  Elizabeth R, Bradley Stoke
