Case Study 1
Stress and liver malfunction
Mrs D is 45 years old, married with two children both of whom are away at university. She works in communications in a large organization. Her job is stressful and in time she developed a large cyst on her neck. This became infected and she was prescribed antibiotics. One of the side effects of the brand of antibiotics Mrs D was prescribed is a form of liver damage, and in her run-down condition, Mrs D’s liver was affected.
Mrs D was signed off work for several weeks. The doctors said that it would take some months for her liver function to return to normal. Meanwhile, Mrs D became quite depressed and decided to seek additional help through reflexology treatment.
We agreed a regime of 4 weekly treatments. We would then agree a further regime once we saw how well Mrs D was responding. She responded well and reported that her blood tests showed a consistent improvement in liver function. She felt very much better in herself – more relaxed and at peace. We were able to move to two biweekly treatments and a monthly treatment for 3 months.
Mrs D was able to return to work, her liver function normal and her outlook and ability to manage stress vastly improved.
“It (reflexology) really made a difference to me - I walked in feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders and left floating on air. I couldn’t believe how quickly my health recovered once I started regular treatments.” Lynn D, Bristol
